World Lemur Day
When visiting Tiger Creek, you've probably noticed that we care for many other critters besides big cats. You've likely seen and heard our dynamic Ring-Tailed Lemur duo, Lily and Leonard! Lily and Leonard are both very outgoing girls who love to interact with our tour groups. They will swing about their yard, seemingly flying from branch to branch to come as close as they can to the crowd. They will greet groups with loud coos and they love the "oohs" and "awes" they get in r

Celebrating National Zoo Keeper Week: The Wild Ride of Zookeeping at Tiger Creek
As kids, we imagine zookeeping to be an idyllic job. The tendency is to believe that keepers get to hangout and play with animals all day. While it’s true to an extent that keepers' jobs do revolve around the animals, which includes interacting with them, that's not quite the full story. What most people don’t realize is how much zookeeping is a little less like the movies and a lot more dirty, and has way more paperwork than you would think. At Tiger Creek, keepers begin the

Remembering Dunkin
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our resident Dunkin the raccoon. He had just had his 8th birthday, and lived a long and full life here at the sanctuary. He came to the sanctuary with his suitemate, Sweet Pea, after being taken in by a local licensed rehabber and deemed unfit for release by a veterinarian. The rehabber contacted us, and we had the honor of giving him a home. Dunkin was the shyer of the two, often seen hanging out in one of his many hides

Long Live the King; The Loss of Sakima is One That Has Shook the Tiger Creek Family to it's Core.
The name "Sakima" is of Native American origin, meaning "King". Our Sakima prowled his habitat with a sense of royalty that fulfilled his namesake leaving zero doubts of status or opinion. We are heartbroken to share the loss of our 19 year old Bengal King, Sakima. We worked so incredibly hard to give him the most exceptional care, and are forever grateful for our time together. Sakima was a very vocal man who loved to chuff and moo at his best (people) friends any time the
