Nishchala's Story
Nishchala is next up on our tour and is a white Bengal tiger. Nishchala was brought to us from a facility on the east coast along with two other rare Bengals. She was a very vocal and playful cub and was under constant supervision for the first three months of her life. Many people mistake white tigers as having albinism, but this isn’t the case as she does not have loss of pigmentation in her skin and eyes (albinos have a unique pinkish red tint to their eyes due to the absence of pigmentation that would normally hide the blood vessels in their eyes). The white and golden tabby Bengal tigers have a phenotype variation to thank for their uniqueness. She is what is known as a “Royal White” Bengal, meaning she is white with dark black stripes.
